Friendship Appreciation Post

Like many, I have been the victim of harassment over voice comms in OW. It’s a lot to deal with. But I want to also let it be known:

I met one of my best friends on Overwatch.

I like hanging out and chatting in-group with my friend, and if we feel like dealing with the open waters of team chat… well it’s like when you have to walk past a group of assertive, boisterous boys in the mall. You don’t know whether they’ll be the kind that “know the limits and tease within it” or the kind that will let themselves escalate to aggressive language as you pass by.

It makes all the difference when you don’t have to do it alone.

I feel like the only way to dilute the toxicity of the atmosphere is to be kind to the people in your life. And for many months, someone in my life has been there on the internet. We play together. I can’t tell you how therapeutic it is not only to play a game that lets me forget for a couple hours all the anxieties that plague me, but to know there’s a friend to share the experience with.

We all love to laugh

It means so much to share a laugh over some stupid play in OW. It means so much to co-operate and co-ordinate ults, and co-miserate over fucking comp. I like to hear the stories of how you carry on Symmetra on attack, because you fucking do.

Not to mention how much I appreciate having a male friend who isn’t interested in me like that

I think that speaks for itself, but just in case it doesn’t, let me just say there is an open channel of love flowing from my heart toward your spirit. It’s like the love I have for my moon sisters, because I know there’s no ulterior motive or underlying messages to be alert to or worry about. (Do you know what I mean? My anxiety makes me worry even though I know that not all guys are interested in me it’s just that I’ve been through a lot)

So like, I know I’m not one of your longtime besties and we just like play Overwatch tgthr but, you’ve got a special place in my life and I don’t know if you realize that. So that’s the point of this post. I support you in spirit from the bottom of my heart!

I wanted to make it public because it’d be great to hear and share friendship appreciation stories. Anyone else want to shout to the rooftops their support for a friend, online or in person?
